Florida Trip

Thu Aug 20, 2009, 9:33 AM
Just got back from my tour of Florida. Started on 8/9/09 in Ft Lauderdale staying at the Beachcomber Resort and Villa. Nice place, especially the pool bar area looking over ther ocean. The next day we went into Miami and hit the beach during the day and then that night we went to the Marlins play the Astros. Pretty sad there was only about three thousand people in the whole stadium.
The next day we drove over to Naples and along the way stopped in the everglades to check out the gaitors and ride an air boat. We stayed at the Hilton Naples, nice but more of a business type stay. The pier and 3rd street were about the only things there, but had some great Italian on 3rd st. Naples is clean and everything seems new, one local said its where old people go to die. Anyways.
Then we headed up to St Petersburgh or Treasure Island and stayed at the Bilmar Beach Resort, decent with some nice reasturants and a fun bar across the street. That night we went to the Dave Mathews Concert at the Ford Amphitheatre. Great show cause he was jammin the whole night. The next day we went to Bush Gardens, great place, good coasters, zoo type safari(better than Disney World). On the 14th we saw the Rays play the Blue Jays and Roy Halladay wooped on the Rays(better than the Marlins)
The next day we drove to Orlando and stayed at the Cypress Point Grand Villas, more of a condo type place with kitchens and stuff for long stays. That night we went to the Hard Rock Live and saw Counting Crows and Michael Franti great show, could have used more Franti. The next day we hit Universal Studios it was fun, great area everything is new at the city walk and stays open late, with lots of clubs. The next day we hit Disney World, Magic Kingdom(dont go unless you have kids with you). Lines are way to long, the rides are boring(made for 6 year olds) my cousin loves this place, I just dont get it.
The next day we were flying out and on the way to the airport we stopped at this gallery called Bold Hype in Orlando and I bought a new piece by New York artist, just featured in Juxtapox Magazine: Douglas Hoffman the piece is titled The Nobody Hole. It can be seen at [link]

Well thats about it, had fun with a little too much heat and humidity. Always love the beach and the bikinis. Now its back to work.
